February farmer’s market finds

The result of an early morning at the market.  Brussels sprouts, Florida oyster mushrooms, garlic, basil, and a mango from Miriam.  Baby beets, Swiss chard, green onions, and green leaf lettuce from Deb.  Strawberries, blueberries, and heirloom tomatoes from vendors we’ve just met.  Pumpkin spice Kombucha from Kevin, eggs from Alecia, and “dud” loaves of sourdough from Jenn (they still look delicious to me).

We sauteed the mushrooms quickly in a hot pan and a little olive oil and ate them piled onto our bread with thinly sliced tomatoes on top.  We enjoyed berries by the handful and went back later for some sweet, juicy bites of mango to balance out a somewhat bitter dish of sauteed onions and mustard greens.

How is your Saturday going?

    1. Thanks!! Yes we have been enjoying our meals with all the fresh food–I can’t believe it is February already and strawberry season here pretty soon, if not already. Going to have to head out to the organic farm for picking soon after we’ve finished our little box that we got from the market. Thanks for reading!

    1. Everything was so good by itself that we just keep eating it before we can do anything fancy! The first loaf of bread is honestly almost gone, we’ve used plenty of the tomatoes to freshen up jarred tomato sauce to make zucchini noodles spaghetti, and for breakfast I’m looking forward to something with the eggs 🙂 The mushrooms were my favorite though, they were so chewy and meaty, which is satisfying for me since we don’t eat meat.
